Our Goal

More than a temporary initiative or the effort of a single office, successful promotion of inclusive excellence at the University of Montevallo is dependent on the campus community engaging and valuing the diversity of all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners. The primary goal of this inclusive approach is to prioritize diversity, inclusion, and equity as core values of the University, while collaborating with various entities on campus to create an environment where everyone has the access and opportunity to thrive and grow, while recognizing their value in an ever-shifting global community.

Our Purpose

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion aims to create an engaged campus climate with the expectation that everyone contributes to inclusive excellence. We are committed to working both inside and outside of the classroom to support this purpose through the design and development of educational programs and experiences that recognize, value, and allow engagement with diverse viewpoints that comprise our community and the world around us.

Our aim is to nurture and advocate for a strong community of learners, educators, and professionals while providing authentic opportunities that allow our students to become highly effective leaders and engaged citizens.
