Online program

The Instructional Technology program is for those in education-related fields who wish to learn more about the integration of instructional technology to enhance leadership, teaching, and training in their field. The degree program is open to professionals in any education-related field with an aptitude for technology use and integration. It is an innovative program that is available to professionals from P-16 educational environments as well as those in business training fields. The program is designed to help candidates learn more about leadership, training, and the integration of technology to aide in reaching the instructional goals of their respective organizations through the infusion of technology and technology-enhanced instruction/training. This is a non-cert program.

*Advanced pay is available for the IT program through the Alabama State Department of Education.

This program is eligible for the Cyber Tuition Rate. Students enrolled in in Cyber Rate-eligible programs pay the same tuition as in-state graduate students.

Instructional Technology Educational Specialist

The ONLINE Educational Specialist Program in Instructional Technology is for those who have earned a master’s degree or higher in a related field. UM’s innovative IT program is open to professionals in P-16 educational environments as well as those in business training fields that have an aptitude for technology use and integration to support leadership and mentoring within their organization.

Admission Requirements

  • Online application at montevallo.edu/ apply.
  • Master’s degree (minimum 3.0 GPA) from a regionally accredited college/ university.
  • Electronic portfolio demonstrating technical proficiency and expertise.
  • Virtual interview

ONE of the following criteria**:

  • Currently employed with one year of full-time professional experience in an educational or related field.
  • Three years of full-time professional experience in an educational or related field.

**Other qualifications and credentials will be evaluated as needed. All qualified candidates will be considered.

Montevallo Educators’ Partnership

Candidates employed by eligible school systems can receive a scholarship of up to $110 per credit hour toward tuition for all program coursework.

Cyber Tuition Rate

This program is eligible for the Cyber Tuition Rate. Students enrolled in cyber rate-eligible programs pay the same tuition as in-state graduate students

Coursework overview

All coursework must be completed with a minimum overall GPA of 3.25.

*Coursework taken at the 500-level may crossover as electives when a candidate is dually enrolled in the RHO program.

Dual Enrollment

Candidates are eligible for dual enrollment in the Instructional Leadership Certification Program (Reduced Hour Option — RHO). Candidates would count 6 hours of their coursework toward both programs. Admission requirements for both programs must be met.
