UM hosts ACE Women’s Network conference

April 30, 2019

On Wednesday, April 17, the Alabama Chapter of the American Council on Education (ACE) Women’s Network held its spring conference at the University of Montevallo

Coordinated by UM senior Danielle Parks as part of her capstone project, the event provided networking opportunities, a forum for attendees to share best practices and experiences, discover innovative ways to exceed the current vision and incorporate tools that shape a successful workforce.

“It’s been an honor to serve as Ms. Parks capstone advisor through her journey to coordinate the ACE Women’s Network Spring Conference,” said Dr. Hollie Cost, professor of education. “I am confident that this event served to uplift and empower women in a variety of different disciplines as they step into the leadership arena!”

The conference’s theme was “Leadership: Exceeding the Vision, Sharing Solutions and Shaping the Future,” and emphasized how the attendees contribute to their community and higher education.

“As women in leadership, including those who aspire to be, we have the opportunity to exceed the current vision, utilize community resources and promote diversity, while sharing best practices and solutions,” said Parks.

The Network for Women Leaders seeks to provide members with new opportunities for peer-to-peer and online learning, as well as an enhanced ability to build and sustain networks within their communities. Through expertise in the areas of mentorship, diversity, team building, legal rights and higher education, this organization serves institutions on both state and national levels.
