Where are you from and what city do you currently reside in?

I am from Montevallo, but I now reside in Helena.

What is your title with the University of Montevallo?

I am blessed to be the chief of police and director of public safety.

What degrees do you hold and from what schools?

I have an associate   degree from Wallace Community College Selma    that I received in 2001, a bachelor’s degree from Faulkner University in 2007 and a master’s degree in justice administration from Faulkner University in 2019.

How long have you worked here?

I started at UMPD on June 1, 2018.

What brought you to Montevallo?

I have always wanted to impact the lives of young people in a positive way and change the negative perception of law enforcement among young adults.

What’s the best thing about working for Montevallo?

Being able to interact with students, faculty and other staff members.

Do you have any interesting stories about one of your favorite experiences here?

Being invited into classrooms to speak with students about current events, being able to explain things from a different perspective and reaching common ground.

What’s your proudest accomplishment since being at UM?

Any accomplishments that have been made I cannot take credit for alone. The men and women that make up the University of Montevallo Police Department have truly supported me and our UM students, faculty and staff. With that understanding, I believe our biggest accomplishment would be starting the Albert P. Jones II Memorial Scholarship.

Why do you belong at Montevallo?

Montevallo is my hometown and I have many memories as a kid of being on campus. Growing up I was a Junior Falcon and attended basketball camps here in the summers. I was a towel boy that volunteered to run out on the basketball court to wipe up the sweat when players fell on the court. My grandmother worked in Wallace   Speech & Hearing. My mother’s first job was in the dining hall. I met many former UM students that impacted my life as a kid and most of them I still communicate with today.

Anything else you want to say?

Montevallo is special and has a way of bringing people together. At UM, relationships that start out as friendships often become family. Here, you will form those lifelong connections that were bonded together on the bricks.
